Rajani - biography

Rajani (also known as Sasikala in Kollywood) is a South Indian film actress. Her birth name was Sasi Malhotra, and she is introduced with her popular name Rajani in Telugu, and as Sasikala in Tamil movies. She was born to V. N. Malhotra, a Punjabi and Sulochana, a Kanada Brahmin. She was married to Doctor Mullagiri Praveen and has three children. She acted in Silver Jubilee movies like Seetharama Kalyanam and Rendu Rella Aaru. Rajini is remembered for her memorable roles opposite all major heroes throughout the 1980s including Aha Naa Pellanta opposite Rajendra Prasad, Majnu opposite Nagarjuna and Seetaramula Kalyanam opposite Balakrishna. She also acted in some Kannada films as well, including Jai Karnataka (which is a remake of 1987 BollywoodBlockster film Mr. India) with Ambareesh and Neenu Nakkare Haalu Sakkare with Vishnuvardhan. She has also acted in Bharathan's critically well acclaimed Malayalam film Padheyam in which she acted opposite Mammootty.
